Avatar the Legend of Korra

Avatar has become a hugely popular animated television series for Nickelodeon. It began chronicling the stories of Aang, a young, wily Avatar who did not want to embrace leadership or take on the challenges of his fate. In three seasons, the show followed Aang and his friends as he learned to master the art of bending all the elements. The series then fell into the cracks as eager fans have waited for more from the Airbender universe. Now, more has been promised and the story will continue.
Avatar the legend of Korra is scheduled to be released by Nickelodeon for a forth season. It will not be a continuation of Aang's travels as the Avatar, rather, the story jumps forward some seventy years to focus on the next Avatar: Korra. Brown Johnson, the creator of the story described the new Avatar as "hotheaded, independent and ready to take on the world." She sounds like a ramped up version of Aang without the desire to shirk responsibility. That could mean some blazing conflicts for the shows hero. Because of the lifespan of the characters in the developed show, speculations say that some of the characters from the first installment to the sequel will return to have a presence in the new story.
Avatar The Legend of Korra will take place in the Republic City. When the show introduces Korra, she has already mastered three of the four elements and only needs to learn how to bend Air. The Republic City is a technological machine that is fueled by the cooperation of the Fire Nation and the Water Nation. The energy resource: steam pucks, require the team effort of both water and fire bending. However, under the surface of all the teamwork Korra discovers that there are other forces at hand. Along with an anti-bending movement and growing sympathies, the city is wrought with crime.
The new show promises to capitalize on the themes that made it a hit during Aang's adventures. Fans of the first series can look forward to the next installment of this tale in 2011 and the unfolding journey. Rumors indicate that Aang's grandson will be a tutor to Korra and that she will find the lost Airbender Nation. Nickelodeon has done a press release and continues to play the details pretty vaguely. No matter who shows up or what the journey is, Avatar fans are doubtlessly excited for this new adventure.
